Susan J. Larsen’s Past Experience
In addition to the skill sets detailed on separate pages of this website, I have a wide range of past experience stemming primarily from client requests, as peppered with personal curiosity and interest, and has traditionally been related to, or at least tangential to, my primary practice areas of technology, business, and transactions. While individual client requests have enabled me to travel down a multitude of unique roads of inquiry, areas of repeated involvement are included here.
For many years, for several different major corporations, I interacted almost exclusively with various levels of governments. During this time, I drafted contracts with governmental agencies and municipalities for installation of CAD hardware and software, and worked in telecommunications, primarily steel pipe, but also resale, and wireline contracts. This enabled me to gain in-depth experience with FARs and GSA, streamlined internal procedures and processes for government contracts, and ensured that contract terms conform to legal and business requirements as well as company policies. I also have experience working on FDA and FTC statute interpretation and investigation, including researching various issues related thereto, and created legal documentation for acquisitions, terminations, and transfers of alcohol beverage distributorships and franchises for overseas corporation as well as Colorado internet companies. During this time, I gained experience with ISP, VoIP, and telephone technology transactions.
For over a decade, my primary focus was in the marketing arena where on a daily basis I structured, negotiated, and drafted transactional agreements pertaining to marketing, sales, trademark licensed goods, advertising, promotional events, national celebrity endorsements, models, actors, consultants, promoters, major league athletic teams and venues, procurement of original music, promoters, marketing research firms, negotiations with SAG and AFTRA, and secured television studio personnel. As a consequence of this experience, the company sent me to various field offices in and around the United States where I trained field personnel, and some suppliers, as required.
Experience for corporate clients has also included facility concerns, such as purchase, lease, or rental of space to meet the corporation’s current needs. Facility work also includes sundry items such as gas leaks, elevator malfunctions, and a limited amount of construction or remodel items.
Past Trademark work includes acquisitions, notices of infringement, and filing at the state and federal levels. In addition to my own Copyrights, filings for clients include software, original works of pictorial art, and Copyright infringement settlements.
One of the Registered Copyrights I hold is in regard to drafting an Employee Handbook and various considerations to take into account when drafting one. While I have drafted, or rewrote, Employee Handbooks in the past, as well as established various policies and procedures or controls for corporate clients, employer/employee matters are no longer a primary practice area. However, I continue to address policies and procedures for clients, most recently pertaining to GDPR.
