Susan Larsen – Business Attorney
My practice focuses on Colorado business law and corporate law.
A key component to providing commercial attorney services to businesses is the diverse educational package I bring to every client. In addition to my law degree, I also have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, a Masters degree in Technology Management, and a Masters in Applied Communication, all from the University of Denver. I believe the combination of accounting, law, technology, and communication is central to the success of all businesses. This education, along with my experience, allows me to understand the various issues faced by businesses today from a broader perspective. It is this multidisciplinary approach that sets me apart from other attorneys and enables me to approach situations from a variety of angles, to think outside of the box, and to suggest creative and innovative approaches to client issues more so than many than other attorneys. Denver, Colorado is also a focal point for high-tech companies and both my experience, and education, in the high-tech arena makes me perfectly suited to assist both high-tech companies and companies with high-tech concerns.
In addition to my degrees, I regularly continue my legal education by taking Continuing Legal Education courses from the Colorado Bar Association, the Denver Bar Association, and the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law.
I have a strong business background, having worked for several Fortune 500 companies in the past, such as Coors Brewing Company, US West, Qwest, software companies such as Quovadx, Inc., Astracon, Inc., and Printrak International, Inc., as well as various Internet companies such as Cognigen Networks, Inc. I have held various positions within those organizations, including that of contract law attorney, which contributed greatly to the breadth and width of my contracting experience. In addition, I have worked for several small businesses which enables me to understand both the opportunities and resource restrictions they sometimes face. It is this diversity of experience that enables me to more quickly ascertain the critical components of client matters than other attorneys. Denver, Colorado boasts a wide variety of industries and businesses that can all benefit from a commercial attorney or a contract law attorney.
As an entrepreneur myself, I understand and appreciate the significance of how busy company owners can be and how important it is to handle matters effectively and efficiently towards the client’s stated objectives. My practice is typically more client-responsive and I am more personally invested in my clients than many attorneys are, as I believe open and flowing client communications are imperative to creating effective solutions.
I seek to be as pro-active as possible in my representation, preferring to anticipate and mitigate potential issues rather than react to them after they have become a problem or a crisis for the company. This approach allows the business to operate as smoothly and effectively as possible while minimizing legal costs.
I am often able to negotiate effective solutions to problems prior to lawsuits being initiated. However, when the situation cannot be otherwise resolved, I work in tandem with litigators to provide the client with the assistance required by the situation.
